5 – 20 June 2020
Earlier this year, we announced that our beloved Adelaide Cabaret Festival was cancelled due to the declaration of a public health emergency as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Whilst we may not be able to meet in theatres, under shining lights that transport us from our world to another, and while we can’t sit side-by-side to hear stories and music from performers across the globe, we can still celebrate the spirit of South Australia’s favourite winter event!
So, get ready cabaret fans because we’re pulling back the iso curtain to reveal a delectable digital mini feast celebrating Adelaide Cabaret Festival. We’ll deliver a curated collection of bite-sized clips from artists who were set to feature in our 2020 program straight to your device from 5 – 20 June, 2020.
Our snack-sized line up features Ali McGregor, All The Queens Men, Anne Pigalle, Ash Flanders, Bec Matthews, Beccy Cole, Bert LaBonte, Caroline Nin, Carsie Blanton, Catherine Alcorn, David Campbell, David Finnigan, Earl Okin, Geraldine Quinn, James Galea, Jeanne Plante, Josh Quong-Tart, Julia Zemiro, Kate Ceberano, Libby O'Donovan, Marcel Lucont, Max Savage, Nicci Wilks, Plonk Family Band, Robyn Archer, Sam McMahon, Sarah Ward, Thando, The Hamiltons, The Sisters of Invention, and Trevor Jones.
Tune in on social media where these talented cabaret artists will share stories, snippets, shoutouts and songs made during April and May whilst in isolation, especially for our mini version of Adelaide Cabaret Festival 2020: Bite-Sized & Home Delivered, each responding to the question: ‘What Good Is Sitting Alone In Your Room?’
This amuse bouche of clips will be peppered with a series of photos from the archives as we also tip our hats to 20 years of Adelaide Cabaret Festival. In addition, our sassy QBE Cabaret Lounge hosts Franky & Franky will guide you through getting ready and prepping your own cabaret lounge so you can devour our home delivered experience.
And while it’s not the visceral, live, in-theatre experience we all look forward to each year, we’ll whet your appetite for 2021 when the festival will return in all its glory.
Why not order a Cabaret Couch Kit full of tasty treats like cheese and charcuterie from Out in the Paddock, and a winter warming drop from Greenock Estate Wines or Pol Roger champagne to complement your cosy night in?
We’d love for you to share your favourite memories with us and join the conversation with #CabaretAtHome and #AdCabFest.
So, get ready cabaret fans! Be sure to Like & Follow Adelaide Cabaret Festival on Facebook and get ready for opening night on Friday 5 June!
